【摘要】:Thistestmethodisforuseinevaluatingthecapabilityofacontainerorshippingsystemtowithstandsuddenshocksandcrushingforces,suchasthosegeneratedfromrailswitchingimpactsorpalletmarshalling,ortoevaluatethecapabilityofacontaineranditsinnerpacking,orshippingsystem,toprotectitscontentsduringthesuddenshocksandcrushingforcesresultingfromrailswitchingorpalletmarshallingimpacts.Thistestmethodmayalsobeusedtocomparetheperformanceofdifferentcontainerdesignsorshippingsystems.Thetestmayalsopermitobservationoftheprogressivefailureofacontainerorshippingsystemanddamagetothecontents.SeePracticeD4169foradditionalguidance.Thistestmethodisnotsuitableforreproducingimpactresultingfromtheswitchingofrailcarsusinglong-traveldraftgearorcushionedunderframes.RefertoMethodD4003(revised)asamoresuitablemethodfortestingunderthesecircumstances,orwhenmoreprecisecontrolofshockinputsisrequired.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheproceduresforreproducingandcomparingshockdamage,suchasthatwhichmayresultfromrailswitchingorpalletmarshallingimpacts,usinganinclineimpacttester.Itissuitableforsimulatingthetypesofshockpulsesexperiencedbyladinginrailswitchingofrailcarswithstandarddraftgear,butnotforthosewithlongtraveldraftgearorcushionedunderframes.Thetestmethodcanalsobeusedforpalletmarshallingtests.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard..1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardsstatements,seeSection6.
