【摘要】:Thisisrevisionofthemethodformeasuringrosinacidscontentcombinesthethreemajorwaysofdeterminingtherosinacidscontentofnavalstoresproductsintoasinglemethod.4.1.1Formaterialscontaininglessthan15%rosin,themodifiedGliddenprocedurehasgainedacceptanceovertheHerrlinger-Compeau.Formaterialscontainingmorethan15%rosinthemodifiedWolfeMethodispreferred.ThemodifiedWolfeandmodifiedGliddenproceduresdifferonlyintheirdetails.Theyhavebeencombinedhereintoasingleprocedure.Thisprocedurecanberunusingeitherapotentiometeroraninternalindicatortodeterminetheendpointofthetitration.Useofapotentiometerispreferredandistherefereemethod.Useofaninternalindicatoristheprincipalalternativemethod.TheywillbereferredtoasthePotentiometricMethodandtheInternalIndicatorMethodtodistinguishthemfromtheHerrlinger-CompeauandLinder-Perssonmethods.4.1.2TheHerrlinger-CompeauMethodislimitedinapplicationtomaterialscontaininglessthan15%rosin.Itislittleusedintheindustrytoday.Muchearlyworkisbasedonthistestmethodsoitisincludedheretoprovideahistoricalbasisfortheoveralltestmethod.4.1.3TheLinder-PerssonMethodisalsolittleusedintheindustrytoday.Itisapplicableformeasuringtherosinacidscontentofnavalstoresproductscontaininggreaterthan60%rosin.LiketheHerrlinger-Compeau,itisincludedheretoprovideahistoricalbasisforthetestmethod.Inthoseinstanceswheretheyareused,theHerrlinger-CompeauandLinder-Perssonmethodsareofteninconjunctiontocoverthewholerangeofrosincontent.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationofrosinacidsintalloil,talloilfattyacid,talloilrosin,andothernavalstoresproducts.1.2Thesetestmethodsmaynotbeapplicabletoadductsorderivativesofrosin,fattyacid,orothernavalstoresproducts.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
