【摘要】:ThisInternationalStandardprovidesanarchitecturalmodeloftheOSINetworkLayerasaframeworkforOSINetworkLayerstandardization,allowingincorporationofexistingnetworkswithintheOSIarchitecture.ThisframeworkencouragesthedesignofrealsubnetworksthatfullysupporttheOSINetworkServicewhilstaccom-modatingtheparticipation,intheOSIenvironment,ofothersubnetworksthatdonotfullysupporttheOSINetworkService.ThisInternationalStandardisintendedforusebothinthedesignandapplicationofNetworkLayerprotocols,operat-ingbetweennetwork-entitieseitherinendsystemsprovid-ingtheOSINetworkService,orinintermediatesystemsprovidingtherouteingandrelayfunctions.Itshallbeusedtoa)provideacommonsetofconceptsandterminologyforuseinNetworkLayerstandards(suchstandardsshallreferencethisInternationalStandard);b)analyseNetworkLayerfunctionalityandclassifyNet-workLayerprotocols;c)specifyhow"realnetworks"shouldbeusedinsup-portingorprovidingtheOSINetworkService,inpartic-ular,incircumstanceswheremultiple"realnetworks"aretobeinterconnectedandused.TheorganizationdefinedhereindoesnotaddressNetworkLayermanagement;inparticularitisnotconcernedwiththerelationshipsamongNetworkLayerentitieswhichmayberequiredforNetworkLayermanagementpurposes.Inad-dition,thisInternationalStandarddoesnotspecifytheop-erationalrequirementsforrelayfunctionsinintermediatesystems,noraddresshowspecificcombinationsofpermit-tedfunctionsmightbepracticallyandefficientlyutilized.
